We invite individual visual and performing artists, writers, bookstores, book clubs, brave non-profit or government organizations and other individuals or groups across the USA to independently “flood the zone” with creativity, for Create to Liberate, Saturday, April 19, 2025.
Think of this idea as a pilot light for the creative fire within you (if it needs to be lit.)
Create to Liberate Idea No. 2
Here is a simple act of creative resistance that anyone can undertake:
Go to a museum on April 19.
We are hearing about broad-brush economic protests. Fine. Do that. However, on April 19, we want to focus on those businesses that are specifically seeking to replace democracy with centralized, undemocratic control.
And Abbetuck wants to substitute our collective anger with positive, artful energy. For at least one day.
Here are twelve businesses that have: (a) donated substantial amounts of money to help install the current U.S. president; and/or (b) moved quickly to discard policies that prevent discrimination:
- Aldi’s
- Amazon (including Audible, Kindle, Ring, Whole Foods, Zappos)
- CVS Health
- Disney (including ABC, ESPN, Marvel, National Geographic)
- Home Depot
- Lowe’s
- McDonald’s
- Molson Coors (including Blue Moon, Coors, Fosters, Miller, Molson)
- PepsiCo
- Target
- Variety Wholesalers (including Maxway, Roses, Super 10)
- Walmart
There are dozens more companies supporting autocracy for which you can search. However, use a non-Google search engine since Google is also no longer interested in a workforce that is representative of America.
Rather than give your money to those who do not need it and are helping to institute authoritarianism, for at least one day, April 19, spend your money on an uplifting encounter with the arts.
