Join a nationwide day of activity that champions creativity and freedom of expression!
On April 19, 2025, fellow artists, writers, performers and creative souls across the USA will champion the arts and stand up to political bullies.
Why April 19? It is a revolutionary day—literally. This date marks the 250th anniversary of the start of the American Revolution, the “shot heard round the world.” Let’s honor this legacy by making our own statement for creativity, the arts and freedom of speech.
Do something
What can you do? Anything that speaks against (or jabs at) authoritarianism and stands up for creativity. Whether you are organizing an event, performing, creating art or engaging in any form of creative activism, your contribution matters.
We even offer five ideas to get you started:
- “Rename” an undesirable street as a form of protest.
- Visit a museum instead of shopping at major retailers.
- Write and perform a soap opera episode titled “Putin Place.”
- Organize a playful protest with neighborhood kids.
- Load your online shopping cart at a coup-friendly online retailer, leave it, and then shop locally.
Discover more
Visit our Celebrate to Liberate page to find inspiration, share your planned activities, and see what others are doing across the country. Together, we can “flood the zone” with creativity and make a powerful statement.
Get involved
- Take action on April 19 in your community.
- Spread the word through social media and personal networks.
Let’s unite for a day of revolutionary creativity!
If nothing else, a day of widespread creativity will be a joyful antidote to the daily assault of discouraging news.
